FOX Sports has made sweeping changes to its schedule after the departure of Skip Bayless and the demise of its flagship show “Undisputed”.
Outspoken pundit Bayless was the face of the morning debate show, which was FS1’s rival to ESPN’s popular “First Take”, but he left the broadcaster on Aug. 2, saying he had been “planning to pursue other opportunities for several months”.
It also proved to be the last episode of “Undisputed”, with the show canceled by FS1, and on Thursday the broadcaster confirmed its plans for the future, launching two new shows and a revamped schedule.
“The Herd”, hosted by veteran pundit Colin Cowherd, and the acclaimed “First Things First” – helmed by Kevin Wildes, Nick Wright and Chris Broussard – retain their noon to 3 p.m. ET and 3-5 p.m. ET slots respectively.
“Speak” also continues in its 5-7 p.m. ET time slot and it will continue to be fronted by Joy Taylor, but a reshuffle of the panel will see her joined by Super Bowl champion Keyshawn Johnson and ex-NBA star Paul Pierce – who had been counterparts of Bayless on “Undisputed”.
Craig Carton continues to front FS1’s morning broadcast, but “The Carton Show” has been revamped to “Breakfast Ball” and will run from 8-10 a.m. ET. Based in New York City, Carton will be joined by co-hosts three-time Super Bowl winner Mark Schlereth and newcomer Danny Parkins, who cut his teeth on the Chicago radio scene.
In the 10 a.m. to noon slot vacated by “Undisputed”, new show “The Facility” will debut. It will be fronted by Emmanuel Acho and his former Philadelphia Eagles teammate LeSean McCoy.
The pair had been fixtures of “Speak”, and they will be joined by James Jones and Chase Daniel on the new launch.
The new schedule takes effect on Sept. 3, and FS1’s head of content Charlie Dixon heralded the broadcaster’s refresh of its offerings.
“FS1 is evolving around a dynamic roster of sports talk personalities, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead,” Dixon said. “From early morning to late afternoon, viewers can look forward to an array of compelling sports discussions, expert analysis and exclusive interviews, all designed to keep sports enthusiasts informed and entertained throughout the day.”
Bayless, meanwhile, is yet to announce his next move. The 72-year-old posted on social media after his final FS1 appearance: “Today was my last show on Undisputed. I’m leaving FS1. I’ve been planning to pursue other opportunities for several months. I had a great eight-year run with a lot of great people at FOX, but now I’m excited for what’s coming up. Stay tuned.”
